Thursday 2nd October 2025 – we are in the town of Mikulov. It is rather cold and windy but we have ventured out and it is rather an interesting town although lots of places are closed.
There is some modern art around the town:
We also managed to find a rather good patisserie:
Friday 3rd October 2025 – we visited the UNESCO town of Cesky Krumlov with its extraordinary castle decorated in Renaissance style. Staying overnight in the town and eating Schnitzel!
Sadly a rather forlorn bear is kept in the moat of the castle. There is a tradition of keeping Bears in Czech castles since the 16th century. It is what every decent aristocrat gives for Christmas. Not universally popular in a modern context (although the forest of selfie stick speak otherwise!).
The town has a lot of cobbled streets and artisan shops and a central square.
